qEEG Brain Mapping What is Brain Mapping? Brain mapping, or qEEG brain mapping, is a process that will show you how your brain works and identify any problem areas. qEEG stands for quantitative electroencephalograph. After completing a brain mapping session, your therapist will be able to evaluate how your brain works and which brain waves require training. A brain mapping program will create a visual representation of your brain lobes and the brain wave frequencies (delta, alpha, theta, beta, sensorimotor rhythm) in each area of the brain. It will show where there’s too much activity, too little, and where you have room for improvement. How do I get Brain Mapping done? A cap will be placed on your head that’s connected to the machine that reads the electrical impulses in your brain. This process us using an electroencephalogram (EEG). The program will show your brain waves, and then create a brain map that shows your brainwave activity. This will be your brain mapping. Brain mapping can be helpful in creating your neurofeedback, especially because it’s based on your brain activity. Brain mapping is non-invasive and painless. It just records the activity of your brain. What is the benefit of doing a qEEG? Brain mapping can pinpoint where exactly your problems areas are that need training. With qEEG brain mapping, we can get more exact data on your brain activity to create your neurofeedback plan.
